Dear Parishioners, For the last several weeks I was announcing that “all other things being equal” we would try to add more liturgical elements to the Mass, such as singing by a cantor, preaching a homily, the General Intercessions and livestreaming the Saturday evening Mass.
Unfortunately, “all other things are not equal.” In fact, they got worse. While we are still legally permitted to meet in church, we must still follow strict guidelines in reducing our risk to exposure and in promoting public health.
Thus, it has been decided not to bring back more singing, the Sign of Peace, the General Intercessions, handling things in common such as offertory baskets and hymn books, etc.
We will continue to livestream the Saturday evening 5 PM Vigil Mass (with preaching), as well as other Masses as possible, however, generally there will be no homily at the Sunday morning Masses.
Parishioners are reminded to wear a mask/face covering to church, socially distance from non-family members, and not congregate in the church/facility as much as is practically possible.
Let us all be vigilant in promoting public health and the common good and pray that this will all end soon.
