Significant Parish Campus Activities

  • 12.13 Acres of land adjacent to the church were purchased for future expansion
  • Outdoor Stations of the Cross were installation by Eagle Scout Charles Sherman
  • Two HVAC systems replaced.
  • Fire Alarm system damaged by lightning was replacement (covered by insurance)
  • New security system installation begins (will be completed in 2026)

HISPANIC MINISTRY. GROUP PRAYER AND SERVICE 2025

SACRAMENTS – 2025

  • Baptisms – 42 Spanish Baptisms and 5 English
  • First Communion– 45 children, 6 adults
  • Marriages – 3
  • Quinceañeras – 6 (Not a sacrament- traditional church celebration that marks a girl’s 15th birthday and her transition from childhood to young womanhood.

DIOCESAN RELATED

  • Ábreme – Diocese sponsored online training for leaders on how to serve the church and its programs. 30 participants – Meet every Tuesday – St. Brendan’s
  • Communities In Grace (Comunidades En Gracia) – online training program
    for leaders of how to pray; Lectio Divina, study of the Bible. 20 participants – Meet every Wednesday- St. Brendan’s
  • Institute of Faith and Life– national training program for faith leaders once a year in Chicago. A group of 10 youth/adults attended, and we have sent participants for the 5 past years.
  • Hispanic Heritage Day – Hispanic family event Diocese sponsored. St. Brendan’s rents a bus. 2025, we had 2 buses for 90 people.
  • Diocesan Retreat For Hispanic Leaders – 2 to 3 times a year the leaders of the prayer and service groups attend a retreat organized by the diocese of Raleigh. The attendees pay all their own expenses. 10 participants
  • Bishops of southeast US sponsor annual conference for Hispanic church leaders. Two young adults participated in Rome and also met with Pope Leo.

PARISH GROUPS/FUNCTIONS/EVENTS

  • Cursillo – meets weekly and 1x/mo. with other parishes—prayer – 30 member
  • Prayer and Service Group – 30 members
  • St. John XXIII – meets weekly for prayer – 40 members
  • Holy Hour Group – meets weekly – 10 members
  • Altar Servers – 11
  • Ushers – 12
  • Youth programs. (10yrs old to 14 yrs ) – 25 members
    Have Bible study, prayer groups, serve as altar servers, collect Sunday offerings, etc, Plans to form a group of 15 to 25 year olds soon.
  • Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration – Approx. 400 people attended Mass and celebration. About 100 of the community participated in planning, implementing and entertaining.
  • In lieu of Hispanic/Parish Festival, Hispanic community prepared and served variety of Hispanic foods – 4 weekends in May and 1 full day in September raising approximately $32,000 for the parish
  • Landscaping – 2/year – 25 participants- same for next year unless more is needed.

** the Hispanic community raises their own funds to cover any and all upcoming expenses for trainings, programs, retreats, celebrations etc. for their community usually by holding a Kremés (serving breakfasts, tacos, etc.)
