Inclement Weather Policy

Inclement weather includes, but is not limited to:

• Hurricane
• Snow storm
• Ice storm

• Hailstorm
• Hazardous Road Conditions
• Severe Rainstorm

• Tropical Storm
• Flooding
• The Apocalypse

The general instruction for Monday through Friday is, “If Brunswick County Schools are closed, then so is St. Brendan.” Monitor the BCS website for updates.

The general instruction for weekends is, “In the event that inclement weather makes travel to and from church hazardous, everyone is encouraged to pay attention to public safety announcements and stay home.”

Even if it has stopped raining, there is still a danger of (flash) flooding. Don’t let the blue skies fool you!

If you ask yourself, “I wonder if Mass or an event/meeting is cancelled?” then you already have your answer: you are instructed not to come to the church property. Emails and voicemails asking if a Mass or event is “still on” will not be responded to. You already have your response: “Do not come to Mass or an event/meeting because of an occurrence of inclement weather.”

All are excused from attending an event and will not go to Hell for missing Mass in the event of inclement weather.

Here are our pastor’s two most important priorities for all parishioners of St. Brendan’s:

1. Safety first (including Safe Environment).
2. Safety first (including Safe Environment).

Thank you, and God bless and PROTECT you,

Fr. Mark J. Betti, Pastor
